Importance of seva

  • Mahabharata, Anushasana Parva (13.40)

    य: पुजां च दानं च समर्पयेत् स्वयं देवालये।

    तस्य पुण्यं महत्त्वं च, स्वर्गगच्छंति हरं तदा॥"

    "He who donates and offers worship for the construction of a temple attains great merit and is granted the highest spiritual rewards. Such an individual reaches the abode of Lord Vishnu in heaven."

  • Garuda Purana

    मन्दिर निर्माणं य: कर्ता देवादिं तु समर्पयेत्।

    धर्मेण पूज्यतां सर्वे स्वर्गं गच्छंति नान्यथा॥

    One who contributes to the construction of a temple and establishes the deities therein is honored by all and attains heaven through such righteous acts

  • The Vamana Purana states

    अ॒ज्ये॒ष्ठासो॒ अक॑निष्ठास ए॒ते सं भ्रात॑रो वावृधु॒: सौभ॑गाय ।

    युवा॑ पि॒ता स्वपा॑ रु॒द्र ए॑षां सु॒दुघा॒ पृश्नि॑: सु॒दिना॑ म॒रुद्भ्य॑: ॥

    One can attain the eternal spiritual world (Vaikunta) by donating for the construction or renovation of a temple.

  • Vishnu Purana (3.8.27)

    य: देवालयनिर्माणे य: च दानं समर्पयेत्।

    सर्वपापे विनिर्मुक्तो स्वर्गलोकं गमिष्यति॥

    One who donates towards the construction of a temple is liberated from all sins and attains the heavenly realms.

  • The Skanda Purana states

    आत्मनं देवालये समर्पयेत् य: सदा प्रार्थयेत्।

    शान्तं शान्ति प्राप्तं च पुण्यं लभेत् सदा महात्मनम्॥

    Just by donating for the construction or renovation of a temple will be wiped out all the sins which are committed in seven births and it will deliver to his forefathers who are suffering in the hellish planets

  • Yajurveda (16.3)


    आत्मनं देवालये समर्पयेत् य: सदा प्रार्थयेत्।

    शान्तं शान्ति प्राप्तं च पुण्यं लभेत् सदा महात्मनम्॥

    One who dedicates their own self to the temple and offers prayer continually will receive peace, blessings, and great merit.
